The Village of Justice will continue to provide updates to our residents and local businesses, as information becomes available.  Village staff is in constant communication with its partner agencies and first responders to make necessary information available.  This webpage will be the primary  local source of information.  Please follow us on Facebook and our website to stay informed of local happenings and programs that may be able to assist our community during this difficult time.  Resources and helpful links are listed below.  Please click on the links to be directed to the resource guides.

UPDATE 01/11/2021
Governor JB Pritzker signed a new Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation extending the statewide declaration through Saturday, February 6, 2021.  He also signed Executive Order 2021-01 to extend the Tier 3 enhanced mitigations.  All regions of the state are currently under Tier 3 enhanced mitgations.


UPDATE 12/15/2020
At the last regular board meeting held on Monday, December 14, 2020, the Mayor and Village Board deferred business license payments until Wednesday, June 30, 2021.  Click here for Update on Village of Justice Business License Renewal from Mayor Kris Wasowicz.

UPDATE 12/11/2020
Governor JB Pritzker signed a new Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation extending the statewide declaration through Saturday, January 9, 2020.  He also signed Executive Order 2020-74 to extend the Tier 3 enhanced mitigations.

UPDATE 12/07/2020

Partnering with the Family Independence Initiative, Cook County President Preckwinkle announced a $7 Million extension of the COVID-19 Recovery: Cash Assistance Program.  The application new window is December 7, 2020 through December 11, 2020 at 11:59 pm.  The Program offers a one-time cash payment of $600.00 to eligible suburban Cook County residents who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic:

UPDATE 11/17/2020
Governor JB Pritzker announced that Tier 3 mitigations will be imposed statewide.  The new mitigations will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020.  Please click on the following links to view the governor's press release announcing the new mitigations and the Tier 3 enhanced mitigations.

UPDATE 11/13/2020
Governor JB Pritzker signed a new Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation extending the statewide declaration through Saturday, December 12, 2020 and and Executive Order to extend all Phase 4 orders.  Additionally, Governor Pritzker issued an Executive Order which modifies and extends the moratorium on residential evictions.  Click on the following links to view the Governor's proclamation and executive orders.

With the pandemic making the in-person attendance of all members of the public body at public meetings being neighter practical or prudent, pursuant to PA 101-0640, Mayor Kris Wasowicz declared a disaster as it relates to the Open Meetings Act and suspended the current act inititiated on  November 2, 2020 through December 12, 2020.  All meetings must be conducted in accordance with all of the provisions of PA 101-0640.

The Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH)today issued an order, COVID-19 Mitigation Order 2020-1, to support Tier I Mitigation Enforcement for restaurants, bars and other businesses where people congregate indoors.  Please click the following links to view the CCDPH Order and the FAQ form related to the order.

UPDATE 11/02/2020

UPDATE 10/26/2020
-The Governor's Office announced that Region 10 (Suburban Cook County only) have activated the state's Tier 1 enhanced mitigations, effective Wednesday, October 28th.  Region 10's mitigation efforts are due to combined sustained increases in the average test positivity rate and hospital admissions for COVID-19 illness.

UPDATE 09/18/2020

 - Governor JB Pritzker signed a new Gubernatorial Disaster Proclomation extending the statewide declaration through Saturday, October 17, 2020.  Additionally, Governor Pritzker signed Executive Order 2020-55 to extend all Phase 4 orders.

UPDATE 08/25/2020
 - The State of Illinois established guidelines regarding the waring of face masks that went into effect on August 25, 2020.  The IL Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity released a revision to its Restore Illinois Safety Guidelines for Bar and Restaurant Establishments at the time which reflect the facemask guidance.  The following is a copy of the revision:

UPDATE 08/21/2020
 - Governor JB Pritzker signed a new Gubenatorial Disaster Proclamation extending the statewide declaration through Saturday, September 19.  Additionally, Governor Pritzker signed Executive Order 2020-52 to extend all Phase 4 orders.

UPDATE 06/26/2020
 - As of today, June 26, 2020, all regions of Illinois are now in Phase 4 (Revitalization) of the "Restore Illinois" plan.  With the entire state entering Phase 4, Governor JB Pritzker signed a new Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation extending the statewide disaster declaration through Saturday, July 25, 2020 and signed Executive Order 2020-43 to reflect the changes in Phase 4.

UPDATE 06/15/2020
 - The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) has now released guidance regarding the resumption of both casino gambling and video gaming operations.  There is no date set at this time by IGB for when casino gambling may resume.  Click Here to view the Illinois Gaming Board Protocols for Resumption of Casino Gambling Operations.

  - Guidance regarding the resumptiomn of video gamimng operations includes information about plans required to be submitted to the IGB from terminal of video gaming operations includes information about plans required to be submitted to IGB from terminal operators.  These plans, called pandemic resumption plans, must detail how the operator will follow current IDPH, Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, along with recommendations from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.  The plans must be reviewed and approved by the IGB before the operator is allowed to resume video gaming, which is expected to be in Phase 4, possibly beginning on Friday, June 26.  Click Here to view the IGB protocols for Resumption of Video Gaming Operations.

 - Cook County announces applications open for $10M recovery fund for suburban Cook County's small businesses and independent Contractors.  Click Here for more information.

UPDATE 05/27/2020
 - The Illinois Department of Public Health came out with guidelines for reopening of various aspects of the economy during Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan.  Click Here to view the guidlines which also includes a Phase 3 business toolkit.

- Click Here to view an Ordinance passed at the last regular board meeting held on May 26, 2020 authorizing Restaurants, Bars, and Other Food/Beverage Establishments to Resume Operations in Outdoor Seating areas during Phase 3 of the "Restore Illinois" Plan.

 - As of June 1, 2020 the Village of Justice Finance Office and Building Department will reopen to the Public.  The offices will reopen following the recommended guidelines for social distancing and face covering.

UPDATE 04/30/2020
 - Governor Pritzker signed an executive order extending and modifying the "Stay at Home Order" that is currently in effect until May 29.  His new order will take effect on May 1 and lasts through through May 29.  Click here to view the Governor's Executive Order 2020-32.

UPDATE 04/01/2020
 - The "Stay-at-Home Order" allows for essential businesses to remain open.  The Village of Justice has contacted all of our businesses to find out which businesses are still open and composed a list for our residents.  Please remember that certain businesses have altered the way they operate in order to keep providing the goods and services needed by our residents.  We reccomend that you contact the business location prior to visiting them to see what changes they may have made.  Click Here for a list of current businesses operating in the Village of Justice.

 - Governor Pritzker announced today that on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 he will be extending the disaster proclomation, the suspension of on-site learning at schools and the "Stay at Home Order" through April 30, 2020.  Click Here to View the Notice from the Office of the Governor.

UPDATE 03/20/2020

  -  Governor Pritzker issued Executive Order 2020-10 requiring all Illinoisans to stay in their homes to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.  The order prohibits thinks like visiting the homes of friends and holding gatherings of any size and closes nonessential establishments, including most retail, recreation and entertainment businesses.  It does NOT prohibit essential activities like going to the grocery store, recieving medical care, or taking your pet for a walk.  For more information on what this order means for you Click Here.

  - Notice from the Justice Police Department

Village Departments
To limit face-to-face interactions, effective immediately all services at Village Hall, the Building Department, Public Works and Economic Development will only be available via email, online, fax and/or by telephone until further notice.  Although, locations are closed to the public a staff member will be available Monday - Friday from 8:00AM to 4:00PM to answer phone calls and respond to emails.  Passports will not be accepted at the Finance Department until further notice.  The Public Works Department will be closed to the public but staff will be availabe on-call at all times. 

  • Email: Visit the staff directory at http://villageofjustice.org/service_directory/index.php if you need to reach someone specific. For the Finance Department, please email finance@villageofjustice.org, for the Building Department permits@villageofjustice.org and for Economic Development please email mzarebczan@villageofjustice.org.
  • If you need to contact the Public Works Department please call 708-475-2453 between the hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM, and if it is an emergency please contact the police department by calling the non-emergency phone number at 708-458-2191.  You can also contact the Public Works Department via email at publicworks@villageofjustice.org.  At this time, Branch Chipping will be conducted only on an emergency basis.
  • Residential garbage will still be picked-up by Groot but Bulk Items will not be NOT be picked-up during the "Shelter-in-Place" order.
  • All police administration and non-emergency matters for the Justice Police Department should be directed to 708-458-2191.
  • For emergencies, call 9-1-1.
