Accounting Clerk II
The Village of Justice Administration/Finance Department is currently accepting resumes for the open position of a fulltime Accounting Clerk II. If interested, candidates should email their resume with cover letter to finance@villageofjustice.org.
Position Purpose:
To provide accounting/bookkeeping/clerical assistance to the administration/finance area.
Detail Position Responsibilities:
- Serve as the accounting clerk responsible for processing accounts payables expenses in a timely manner prior to the committee meeting. This includes obtaining all supporting documentation and all approvals in accordance with Village policy. The supporting documentation should be reviewed for accuracy to determine it is a bill of the Village, the account charged is reasonable and the amount is calculated correctly. The Accounting Clerk II is responsible for obtaining all tax documents in accordance with IRS regulations for processing the accounts payable transactions and all year-end tax reporting requirements. Utilizing the Village's financial software enter expenditure transactions and prepare the reports and checks necessary. Generate the check on the proper checking account.
- Serve as payroll clerk for the Village of Justice. Obtain and process all timesheets from department heads and utilizing the software as decided by the Village to process the semi-monthly payroll of the Village. Review all timesheets for completeness and accuracy in accordance with Village Policy. Complete processing of the payroll including processing the respective withholding payments, monthly retirement submission and entering all transactions into the financial software. Review annual W-2 prior to issuance by Payroll Company for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist other administration/finance staff with daily cash collections activities in order to provide sound customer service.
- Serve as back up to prepare the daily cash deposit. Utilizing reports generated by the cash receipting module of the Caselle software, balance out the cash registers and prepare the deposits for submission to the bank. Maintain all equipment and software related to the daily cash deposit including cash registers and remote deposit check scanner.
- Answers inquiries and provides financial and procedural information to all Village departments and public as requested. Requests from the public must be made in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act.
- Identify and make new recommendations for policy and procedural improvements for the Village Operations for your areas of operation.
- Answer inquiries of staff in and out of the Finance Department. Providing assistance cross departments and to the public as necessary.
- Assist on other assignments as assigned by supervisor to meet Village Financial and operational goals.
Qualifications:
- High School Degree or equivalent required
- Two to Three years of progressive bookkeeping experience in the area of accounts payable and payroll
- Professional telephone and Customer Service Manner
- Proficient in Microsoft office including Excel, Word and Outlook. Proficiency in Caselle/Civic Financial software a plus
- Ability to multi-task and take direction from several staff
- Bi-lingual (Spanish/Polish) a plus

Economic Planning Board Member

Responsibilities
- Provide policy and advice for the development of a sound economic base in the village, regarding tax base, employment, demand for government services.
- Take a leadership role in forging a strong and vital partnership between businesses, government and education.
- Know his/her responsibilities for action, the results desired, accept the responsibilities for the actions and the actions to be taken and completed; and be committed to achieving the results.
- Assist the Mayor and Village Board in creation of a strategic vision and set measurable goals and monitor reasonable outcomes for economic development in the village.
- Forge collaborations among businesses, local elected officials, government, and community groups to work with joint accountability.
- Regularly attend and participate in Board and community meetings.
- Abide by the laws and regulations of the village regarding open meetings, public records and disclose and act in an appropriate manner regarding conflicts of interest.
Qualifications
- Desire to make a positive impact on the quality of life in the community.
- Commitment to devote time and talent in partnering with the Mayor, Village Board, and other organizations to sustain and enhance the economic base and business climate of the village.
- Work or live within the Village limits.
Requirements
- Serve for a period of two years.
- Board members are required to attend a minimum 75% of the meetings per year.
- Average time requirement for members is three hours per month.
- Establish and promote economic development policies that improve the community.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Village of Justice's Zoning Board of Appeals is looking for people to participate in the future of the community. Requirements are that you be a resident of the village, preferably home owners and be interested in the potential impact of Zoning matters to the residents of the village.
